Physiotherapist

Physiotherapist Carolyn completed her Honours Degree in Physiotherapy at Manchester University in 1990, and moved into private practice in 1993. During this period, she developed an interest in sports injuries and worked in American Football. In 1995 she moved to the USA to study for her Masters in Sports Medicine which entailed working at a prestigious sports medicine clinic and with a College American Football team. She was able to gain huge experience of both ‘pitch side’ medical intervention and rehabilitation of sports injuries. On her return to England she worked with a professional Basketball team. She then moved on to working at the Crystal Palace National Sports Injury Centre. She continued her studies including completion of a further Masters in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2004 at the University of Brighton. This allowed her to become a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). She has conducted research into knee ligament reconstructions and knee cap dysfunction, presenting her findings at the International Federation of Orthopedic Manipulative Therapists (IFOMT) Conference in Cape Town in 2004, and in the same year the Chartered Physiotherapy Congress. Carolyn worked at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. She was part of the medical team at the Polyclinic in the Athletes Village, for the Olympics, and worked at the Aquatic Centre and with Wheelchair tennis at Eton Manor for the Paralympics. During her time in private practice she developed a special interest in lower limb biomechanics and gait analysis. As a reluctant runner she discovered ‘The Running School’ which changed how she ran and transformed her from a ‘shuffler’ to a runner. She has subsequently trained to combine her gait analysis with coaching running technique and looks forward to using her expertise to help others.
